In release 2.9, the SMART business team focused on improving those parts of the portal that the user deals with on a daily basis. We analyze the experience of our customers and, based on the feedback, we add more new elements necessary for a more comfortable interaction with the corporate portal.
Showing Microsoft Teams status on a card in the Contacts directory
What has been done?
Display of the Microsoft Teams status has been added to the employee card in the Contacts directory.
How does it work?
Just go to the Contacts directory and find the right colleague. At the top of the card, a colored indicator box will be displayed, showing their current status in Microsoft Teams.
How is it useful?
The improvement makes it possible to simultaneously search for a colleague in the directory and view their current status in Microsoft Teams. The employee does not take additional steps and does not waste time going to Teams to check the status: all this can be done from a single window – SmartPoint Intranet.
Ability to customize the alphabet in the Contacts directory
What has been done?
The option to set up the list of available languages for the user has been added to the administrative settings panel of the Contacts directory.
How does it work?
It is set up in three clicks: go to the settings panel – select the desired languages – publish the changes.
How is it useful?
This makes it possible to remove unnecessary languages (the ones the company isn’t currently using) from the list, thereby simplifying user interaction with the Contacts directory. The simpler the interface, the more convenient it is for colleagues.
Displaying news categories on the Company News general page
What has been done?
- when hovering over a category with a long name, it is automatically scrolled so that the user can view the entire name, no matter how long it may be,
- when hovering over the numerical indicator of the number of news categories, a cloud with a list of categories is displayed, and if there are more than five categories, you can view their full list by clicking on the cloud extension icon.
How does it work?
Go to the general news page and simply hover your mouse over a long category name – the name will scroll automatically.
Or hover over the number next to the category – a cloud with a full list of categories will be displayed.
How is it useful?
This allows the content editor to publish news regardless of the number of categories and the length of their names, while keeping the page attractive for the user.
Mobile and tablet versions of Photo and Video Galleries
A modern media library should include both the familiar carousel photo browsing, photo download, and quick link functions, as well as a practical user interface for quick access from any device.
What has been done?
- the look of the interface of Photo and Video galleries has been changed, namely, the page has been divided into a block with albums and a block with an area for viewing photos,
- the look of the carousel for viewing photos has been changed,
- the display of tags on the photo has been adapted.
How does it work?
Go to the Photo or Video Gallery page on your mobile or tablet device. And just start interacting with the page: view the list of albums by scrolling through the block, open a desired photo from the carousel, find a photo with tags.
How is it useful?
These changes make the media library interface more flexible and adaptable to almost all devices, which is important for companies where users actively use both PC and mobile and tablet versions of the portal.
Department workspaces
SmartPoint Intranet is based on the Microsoft SharePoint platform. Because of this, we have the ability to create and customize department workspaces based on various templates within the corporate portal, while adhering to our main single window concept.
Why was there a need to improve this functionality?
Frequent customer requests for a convenient digital space for both an individual employee and an entire department covered not only the basic needs for creating individual workspaces, but also the ability to interact and share files from a single window through Microsoft Teams.
How is it useful?
This workspace provides an isolated space for the team to work within the corporate portal. All actions take place from a single window, using familiar office programs and Microsoft tools. All information of the department is available at any time and from any device.
